I was born in the Dominican Republic and immigrated to Brooklyn, New York during my pre-teenage years. Learning English was tough but nothing compared to getting used to cold weather, much less not having the option of going to the beach year-round.

I attended Dartmouth College where I double majored in Psychology and Sociology, was a research assistant in The Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory For Language Development and completed an honors thesis on emotion regulation and cognition. Unsure of whether I wanted to pursue a PhD in Neuroscience, I decided to spend a year living and working in Japan through the Japanese Exchange and Teaching program. While living in Japan, I found my calling and decided to apply to law school. My interest in international law led me to pursue and graduate, with a J.D./LLM in International and Comparative Law, from Cornell Law School.

As a summer associate I felt that Ropes & Gray embraced diversity and was a place where anyone could succeed on merit. This was one of the main reasons I decided to join the firm as a Corporate Associate in 2008. During my time at firm, the Attorneys of Color Group, along with other interest groups, has been a source of support, learning experiences, fun and friendships. The firm's commitment to pro bono work is impressive and has enabled me to work on issues close to my heart such as helping people who have escaped horrors in their homeland to apply for asylum in the United States.
