As a Canadian who moved to the United States to work at Ropes & Gray, the Attorneys of Color Group gave me an opportunity to meet other lawyers at the firm who also come from diverse backgrounds. My family is ethnically South Asian but lived in Guyana and later moved to Canada, where I was born and raised. We lived in Toronto, one of the most multi-cultural cities in the world, and I grew up and went to school surrounded by many races and ethnicities. When I moved to Montreal for law school at McGill University, I found myself in another multi-cultural city, where many of my classmates and friends were francophone. Coming from this background, the Attorneys of Color Group has made me feel at home working at Ropes & Gray. It has also provided me with the opportunity to meet a number of wonderful people at the firm from various practice groups who I may not have otherwise met.
