I was the first generation of my family to be born and raised in the United States, with my parents having come to the U.S. from Taiwan and Hong Kong to obtain their graduate degrees. I lived in New Jersey until leaving for Boston to attend college. I immediately grew attached to the youthful energy of the city, attributable in large part to the multitude of colleges and universities in the area. Although I left for Philadelphia to attend law school, I knew I wanted to return to Boston to practice law, and did so immediately upon graduating from Penn. I chose Ropes & Gray when I saw that it combined a challenging, cutting-edge work environment with the ability to maintain an enjoyable lifestyle outside the office. At Ropes I have been able to develop a broad range of experience in corporate law with an emphasis on M&A and other transactional work. Although the hours can sometimes be long, I truly enjoy what I do!

I felt Ropes was already ahead of the curve in terms of promoting a diverse work environment when I first joined as a summer associate in 1993, and the firm’s efforts and results with respect to diversity since that time have been even more impressive. We have two new partners of color (out of nine made last fall) and have 26 summer associates of color in the most recent class. These types of concrete and tangible changes are strong indicators of the firm’s commitment to diversity, both now and for the future, and make being part of the Ropes & Gray team even more satisfying.
