I joined Ropes & Gray in the spring of 2005 as a corporate associate. Cultural diversity has always been a natural part of my life as long as I can remember as I spent my childhood and teenage years growing up in Sudan, Germany, Hong Kong and Korea. As a high school student in Hong Kong, I made the surprising decision (at least it came as a surprise to my parents and teachers) to attend college in the U.S. even though I had never even set foot in the country before. Since I didn't know anything about American universities and information was not as accessible as it is now, most of my "due diligence" intel came from the charts and articles in the college edition of U.S. News and World Reports and I ended up attending Brown University.

After four great years at Brown, I spent a year getting my feet wet in the world of advertising as an assistant account executive at Ogilvy & Mather (Seoul) and then went on to Columbia Law School and got my J.D. in 2001. I've been working in New York since graduating from law school and have worked on various corporate transactions including project finance, lender financing, public offerings and private equity fund formation and focus primarily now on mergers and acquisitions. The best thing about working at Ropes has definitely been the people, many of whom I consider my close friends and mentors.
