I joined Ropes & Gray LLP in May of 2001 as a technology specialist and patent agent in the Intellectual Property Practice Group. My practice focuses primarily on patent prosecution and opinion work, as well as general intellectual property counseling for a range of biology, biotechnology, and medical device clients. I graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1995 with a B.S. in biology and received a Ph.D. from Harvard Medical School in 2001. I graduated from Boston University School of Law in 2006.

After 10 years in academia, I was nervous about making the transition to the seemingly more conservative environment of a large, corporate law firm. I wondered about the commitment of large firms to issues surrounding diversity generally, and specifically issues of gender and sexual orientation. In contrast to my fears, my actual experiences have been very positive. Additionally, my involvement with both the GLBT Forum and the Women's Forum has provided opportunities to explore issues of diversity both within the firm and within the larger legal community.

I am amongst the throngs of people who came to the Boston area to go to school, and have never left. After over 15 years here, I truly consider Boston my home. I spend my free time relaxing with my spouse Kelly, tinkering with our house, and exercising just enough to compensate for my fondness for wine.
