"During my time at Ropes & Gray I have worked on a variety of assignments and matters, such as representing debtors and creditors in chapter 11 proceedings and negotiating with distressed parties. My favorite part of the bankruptcy and business restructuring group is the ability to work on both corporate and litigation matters frequently – such as spending my morning drafting a motion, and my afternoon working on a corporate transaction. I enjoy the pace and excitement of bankruptcy work, as well as the interesting and complex problems that arise.
A significant portion of my time has been spent assisting a large hedge fund client buy distressed assets and bankruptcy claims. This project, which involves attorneys from many different departments, has provided me with significant substantive experience and direct client contact. From very early on, I was involved in drafting and filing court documents, communicating with counterparties, briefing the client on diligence issues, and corresponding with various bankruptcy estates. The most enjoyable part of my work is interacting closely with the clients to help resolve their questions, and seeing our advice reflected in their business decisions."
